The StingRays

Let's Rock!
The StingRays play the greatest music ever written and play it with the energy, passion and authenticity of the artists whose music they love. Excellent musicians, everyone LOVES the StingRays Rock & Roll. Their music, great rapport with audiences, their look and the famous StingRay moves have made them repeated favorites at festivals, concert series, casinos, clubs, corporate events and parties throughout the Midwest. The StingRays love interacting with audiences through trivia, dance contests and even joining people in the audience. The StingRays always get the crowd dancing and singing to songs from Rockabilly -- tons of sixties -- to the 70's. They've opened for some of the greatest names in Rock & Roll like Danny & the Juniors, the Ides of March, the Grass Roots, Joey Dee and the Starliters, Mitch Ryder and Dion. With the success of their two CDs, Electric Sea and Walk The Plank, people from Hawaii to New York are listening to the band's authentic, yet definitely StingRays sound.

Meet the New StingRay - 2/4/10
Beatle Mark - A Perfect Fit
CAROL STREAM/NILES - The StingRays are extremely happy to announce their new keyboardist/guitarist, "Beatle" Mark Eskin. In Mark, the band's quest for fire has been rewarded with a musical inferno! Mark's creativity, tasteful playing, captivating stage presence and rock & roll passion promise to make the StingRays the 'hottest' band in town. A native of Chicago he's one of the most talented and "in demand" musicians around. He's been a great friend of the band for years and it's wonderful to finally make his membership official. Please sign our Guestbook and welcome Beatle Mark to the StingRays.

Doubles Best for 2010 - 12/30/09
New Year's Weekend: One Club, Two Great Nights
CAROL STREAM - Celebrants joining the StingRays at their annual New Year's at Manhattan's on December 31, 2009, will find their enjoyment doubles at midnight. This aligns with the duo of rock & roll shows planned to coincide with 2010 -- the second decade of the century. The StingRays will play two days for 2010 (Thursday 12/31 & Saturday 1/2/10) because one simply isn't enough. "Does this mean that if a '10' is the best, that it will be twice as much fun to start the New Year with the StingRays because we're celebrating 2010 twice and two times 10 is 20?" asks band numerologist and Guitarist Dan Ware. "Yes," says StingRays bassist Frank. "Also, don't forget that guitars have six strings -- a multiple of two. Bass guitars have four strings, also a multiple of two. Together they add up to 10. And, we're celebrating 20-TEN... At this point, Drummer Ron interjects. "Give me a break! Everyone just come out and have a good time -- both nights!"

StingRay Christmas Show - 12/3/09
Comes With Snow?
COUNTRYSIDE - Friday, December 4, 2009, will be the StingRays first Christmas Show of the season at Rolling Lanes in Countryside. In a strange coincidence, it began to snow the day before the show. "It's not as if we can control the weather," said StingRay bassist and part time meteorologist Frank. "Unless you like snow, then we totally did this."
As a way of saying thanks to all their friends this Christmas season, the StingRays are offering a coupon to save on the cover charge at Rolling Lanes. And, in the spirit of holiday spirits, Rolling Lanes is offering $3 Domestic Bottle and $4 Long Island Iced Tea tomorrow night.
Editor's Note: Special guest Loose Bruce!

Pre-Thanksgiving Show - 11/24/09
Mash Potato Before You Mash Potatoes
CAROL STREAM - The StingRays annual Pre-Thanksgiving Show starts at 8:00 pm tomorrow, Wednesday November 25, 2009 and of course will be at Manhattan's. "We've been slaving over a hot computer for weeks in preparation", said bassist Frank. "How else would we be able to get this fabulous coupon, to everyone, not to mention this cool picture of us playing on top of a pumpkin", said Drummer Ron.
Editors Note: Don't miss Manhattan's New Year's Eve Party with the StingRays.

Thanksgiving Eve - 11/19/09
Escape the Holiday Pressures
CAROL STREAM - Manhattan's is having a Thanksgiving Eve Party on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. (early start). The party runs all night until midnight, ending just in time so you can get home, stuff the bird and put it in the oven. "You'll be cooking all day long on Thanksgiving, why not let someone else do the cooking the night before?", said Drummer Ron of the fair minded foursome. "Getting out of work is great but if you bring this coupon, you'll be getting stuff for free and that's even better!", said StingRay guitarist Dan.
Editors Note: Don't miss Manhattan's New Year's Eve Party with the StingRays.

Halloween Photo Gallery - 11/2/09
Pictures Reveal StingRays True Selves
NILES & CAROL STREAM - Pictures of the StingRays Halloween Weekend are here. See yourself or your friends as their "real" selves at either Chambers or Manhattans this past weekend. After all, pictures don't lie. Also, don't forget our Thanksgiving Eve Show at Manhattans on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. (early start).

Trick Or Treat - 10/29/09
StingRays Say Don't Limit Yourself
Editor's Note: For more on this topic join the StingRays for a round table discussion featuring dancing, drinks and the best Halloween Parties in town, Friday October 30th at Chambers in Niles and then Saturday October 31st at Manhattans in Carol Stream.
NILES & CAROL STREAM - The Stingrays are at it once again, taking on another cultural institution, their target this time; Halloween. "We'll it's a kind of false dichotomy in our opinion," said gruesome guitarist StingRay Dan. "I think a rather blatant example of the over simplification of the issue is found in the phrase, 'trick or treat', Oh, if were just that simple. This band believes in free will, so why are we limiting ourselves to just these two options? We're purposing that people begin all Halloween transactions from now on with the new phrase, 'trick, treat or any multitude of other choices to be determined later through deliberation'." In the opinion of the editors of the StingRay News the band's proposal will only serve to cloud the issue even further... Both shows this weekend will have costume contests with cash prizes, scary music and dancing. For more information about the shows, click here.

StingRays New Gallery - 10/14/09
Were you caught having fun this Summer?
MIDWEST USA - The much awaited StingRay End of Summer Gallery has just been posted. The only way to tell if you or someone you know is in it is to have a look. And, if seeing yourself on the StingRays website isn't enough fun, catch one or both of the band's Halloween shows this year. Friday October 30th at Chambers and then Saturday October 31st at Manhattans. Both nights will have costume contests with cash prizes, scary music and dancing. For more infomation about the shows, click here.

COUNTRYSIDE & GLENDALE HEIGHTS - On Friday, October 9, see the StingRays back at Rolling Lanes in Countryside AND on Saturday, October 10, shake up the dance floor with the StingRays at Ki's Steak & Seafood in Glendale Heights. Saturday night Ki's is offering a half price bottle of wine with any two dinners. Editor's Note: Special guests Tom Rychter Friday and Loose Bruce Saturday.

Taste of the Weekend - 9/9/09
It tastes as good as it sounds
NILES and GENEVA -- The StingRays have two shows this weekend: Chambers, Friday, September 11, 9pm in Niles and the Festival of the Vine, Sunday, September 13, noon in Geneva. "This weekend's going to taste as great as it sounds, with the fabulous food and wine at Chambers and the Festival of the Vine, I can't decide between them so I'm going to both!" said StingRay guitarist, Dan.
Editor's Note: Get $5 off your meal at Chambers.

StingRays Triple Play - 8/27/09
Three Great Shows this Weekend
GLENDALE HEIGHTS, CAROL STREAM and NORRIDGE -- According to the Schoolhouse Rock song, "Three Is A Magic Number". Well, the StingRays will be testing the validity of that theory this weekend with three spellbinding shows: Ki's in Glendale Heights on Friday, 8/28 at 9pm; Manhattan's in Carol Stream on Saturday, 8/29, at 9:30; and Family Summerfest on Sunday, 8/30 at 5:30.

Classic Rock & Cars - 8/24/09
Monday Night Car Show
WESTCHESTER -- The StingRays are playing Westchester Cruise Night this Monday, August 24, from 6 to 9pm. "This is the first Monday night show that I can remember the band playing in a long time," said Drummer Ron of the StingRays. "It'll sure beat watching another episode of 'One Tree Hill', I don't get that show anyway".

The End Is Nigh - 8/21/09
Two End of Summer Parties
WILLOW SPRINGS and WARRENVILLE -- The StingRays will play two end of Summer parties this weekend, the first at Greco's, Friday, August 21, 7:30 in Willow Springs and then the End of Summer Bash, Saturday, August 22, 8pm in Warrenville. "It's been a great Summer for the band, full of festivals, festivities and friends," said StingRay bassist and Futurist, Frank. "So we're encouraging everyone to live life to it's fullest with us this weekend and 'Carpe Diem', which as far as I know means "seize the Diem."
SIDEBAR -- Special guest keyboardist Beatle Mark!

StingRays vs. Doldrums - 8/6/09
Rock Band Leads Fight Against Summertime Blues
FRANKLIN PARK, NILES and MENDOTA -- The StingRays will lead the battle against August's annual Doldrums with a triple blast of energetic rock & roll. "We're not playing down at the equator, are we?" asks StingRays Geographer and Guitarist Danny W. The StingRays will concentrate their efforts locally. The band will be in Franklin Park on Thursday, 8/6 at 7pm; Niles on Friday, 8/7, at 7:15; and the Mendota Sweetcorn Festival on Saturday, 8/8 at 7pm. "I'll be there armed with my full drum kit," adds Drummer Ron.

Just a quick reminder that
Roselle's National Night Out has CANCELLED
the StingRay's performance on Tuesday August 4, 2009.
The StingRays next public appearance will be Thursday August 6, 2009 in Franklin Park at the North Park Gazebo located at 10040 Addison St, Franklin Park, IL at 7pm

Bloomingdale Concert - 7/27/09
Record Crowd Expected
BLOOMINGDALE -- The StingRays will be at the Old Town Park, Tuesday, July 28, 7pm in Bloomingdale. "While you're waiting for the show, take a look at our latest gallery," says bassist Frank. "Seeing pictures of the StingRays earlier this summer will be like reading the book before you see the movie."
SIDEBAR -- Tuesday's Special Guest Loose Bruce!

Dress for Success - 7/24/09
Stingrays in uniform
JOLIET and CAROL STREAM -- The StingRays will be at the Empress Casino, Friday, July 24, 9pm in Joliet and then at Manhattan's, Saturday, July 25, 9:30 in Carol Stream. "I just hope our costumes Empress everyone Friday at the casino," says bassist Frank. "Because Saturday day we're in Carol Stream and MAN, I hope my HAT gets a TEN".
Editor's Note: The StingRays love a deal so they asked Manhattan's if they could send this dinner coupon to their readers.
SIDEBAR -- Special guests Loose Bruce Friday and Tom Rychter Saturday!

80% Chance of StingRays - 7/14/09
StingRays Play Shows Four out of Five Next Days
VILLA PARK, WILLOW SPRINGS, OTTAWA and LAKE BLUFF -- The StingRays have rock & roll shows planned four out of the five next days. "With those odds, the chances of having a great time dancing are better than having good weather," says StingRays Statistician and Guitarist Dan. The StingRays will be in Villa Park on Wednesday, 7/15 at 6:30; Greco's in Willow Spring on Friday, 7/17, at 7:30; Ottawa on Saturday, 7/18 at 6:00 and Lake Bluff at the Gazebo on Sunday, 7/19 at 6:00. "I know I'll be there -- with cymbals on," adds Drummer Ron.

StingRays of the Corn - 7/8/09
Back from the Heartland
GLENDALE HEIGHTS -- The StingRays are playing Ki's Steak and Seafood Friday, July 10, 9 pm, in Glendale Heights -- a nice counterpoint to the 'Field of Dreams' leg of their Summer 2009, tour. "It's true. The corn in Illinois and Indiana really is knee high by the 4th of July," says StingRays agriculturist and guitarist Danny Ware. "You stay in the city too long and you think cornfields are just the stuff of movies."

Look Back to See Ahead - 6/24/09
Pictures preview fun starting this weekend
MORRIS and SCHERERVILLE -- The StingRays posted a new Highlights of Summer 2008 photo gallery for rock & roll lovers to get ready for this Summer. "Although our summer season officially started last week with our first outdoor show, this is the OFFICIAL official start of summer because people will need lawnchairs," says StingRays Venue-ologist and Drummer Ron. The band's first two outdoor concerts of 2009 will be Nostalgia Days, Friday, June 26, 6:30 in Morris, IL and Celebrate Schererville, Saturday, June 27, 7pm in Schererville, IN. "Dust off those lawnchairs," suggests Drummer Ron.
Editor's Note: If you see yourself in the gallery, put yourself in our guestbook!
SIDEBAR -- Special guest keyboardist Beatle Mark on Friday and guitarist Loose Bruce on Saturday!

StingRays Save Seats: Summer Season - 6/17/09

WILLOW SPRINGS and CAROL STREAM -- Seats are available right now for the most sensational season for Rock & Roll -- summer. The tour starts at Greco's, Friday, June 19, 7:30 in Willow Springs and then at Manhattan's, Saturday, June 20, 9:30 in Carol Stream. "This is better than the Academy Awards because there, people only get to sit down when the winners get their Oscar statues," says Filmologist/Musicologist Frank. "At a StingRays show, until it's standing room only, everyone gets a seat and it's all music and hardly any speeches.
Editor's Note: The StingRays love a deal so they asked Manhattan's if they could send this dinner coupon to their readers.
SIDEBAR -- Special guest keyboardist Beatle Mark!

Pick a Schedule Card - 5/13/09
Any Schedule Card

Walk with the Stingrays - 5/7/09
Better Exercise Than Running
CAROL STREAM -- This Saturday May 9, 2009 the StingRays will Venture deep into Rock and Roll history at Manhattan's in Carol Stream. "It's The Ventures' Nokie Edwards' 74th birthday so I better bring my twangy guitar," remarked Danny, StingRay guitarist and musical historian. "I'm glad I heard the news of Nokie's birthday through the pipeline, otherwise this Saturday could have been a wipeout".
Editor's Note: Nokie wanted to make sure everyone had a great time on his birthday so in his absence he asked the StingRay News to provide this dinner coupon to our readers.

The StingRays At Last - 4/22/09
Rolling Lanes wrapping up Spring
COUNTRYSIDE -- This Friday April 24, 2009 the StingRays will play Rolling Lanes' last regularly scheduled show until the Fall. Don't forget to print out this coupon to save on the cover charge. "Trust me, years from now you'll want to look back at this day and say, 'I was there and not somewhere else," exclaimed StingRay Frank R.

StingRays Stimulus Plan - 4/1/09
Economists Agree: Dancing is Lifetime Investment
CAROL STREAM -- Searching for recession proof investments, economists agree that a night of fabulous music and stimulating dancing will yield returns for a lifetime. "Things can break, real estate can flood, and who really knows how the stock market works," says StingRays Investment Counselor Danny Ware. "A fool-proof investment which will return dividends when you're 100 years old is a night at Manhattan's in Carol Stream with the StingRays on Saturday April 4, 2009. "I've found that each time I choose to have a good time, the investment gets bigger and better each time I review my portfolio," adds the Bullish Ware.

StingRays Spring Fling - 3/27/09
Chambers this Friday
NILES -- The StingRays will play their first date this Spring on Friday March 27th 2009 at Chambers in Niles. "We've made arrangements so there'll be no cover charge at the door and Chambers is offering a $5 Coupon that you can use if you have dinner there," said StingRay keyboardist and financial planner, Frank D. "The name, Spring Fling is from my college days. Every Spring we'd throw the biggest party of the year and we had to do it on a shoe string because by Spring no one had any money left. I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same."

St Patrick's Weekend - 3/11/09
StingRays Go Green
LEMONT -- The StingRays have decided to celebrate St Patrick this weekend at Vito & Nick's on Saturday, March 14th 2009. The choice of an Italian Restaurant on this most Irish of weekends has stirred up a considerable amount of controversy for the band. "It came down to a choice between corn beef and cabbage and delicious Italian thin crust pizza," said Danny O'Danny, guitarist for the Stingrays. "I wish all choices in life were this easy", pondered the pizza pie-eyed picker.

Friday Night Fun - 2/27/09
The Best is Finally First
GLENDALE HEIGHTS -- Kick off the weekend with the StingRays at Ki's Steak & Seafood this Friday night, February 27th 2009. "I've never believed in that old saying, 'save the best for last," said StingRay's Drummer Ron. "If we did that we'd have to play on Sunday nights instead of Friday's and I'd miss The Amazing Race and that's not happening!"

Two Great Shows - 2/20/09
Friday and Saturday Night Fun
COUNTRYSIDE/WESTMONT -- The StingRays have two great shows this weekend. Friday night the band plays in Countryside at Rolling Lanes. Then Saturday night the StingRays are at a new club called Grapein Westmont. Both clubs have a $5 cover charge -- but you can print out this coupon for Rolling Lanes and Grape will wave the cover charge with the purchase of an entree.

Valentine's Day Dance - 2/14/09
StingRays First Show of 2009
CAROL STREAM - The StingRays are kicking off 2009 this Saturday at Manhattan's Bar & Grill in Carol Stream with a Valentine's Day Dance. "It's sort of a multi-purpose day for us and we hope for our friends too", explained Frank R., bassist for the multi-tasking group. "Saturday night we're playing our first show of the year and it also happens to be Valentine's Day," continued the four stringed string puller. "There's even more for our friends to accomplish, they get to catch our first show while spending a romantic evening with someone special or if they're single, dance with some of the cool people that'll be there so that maybe next year they can show up as a couple". It sounds like 2009 is going to be a busy year.

A Break in the Break - 1/16/09
I Thought I Saw a StingRay
CAROL STREAM, IL - The StingRays' Annual Winter Break is actually their busiest time of year. This week alone they have a new video of their New Year's Eve show posted and Sunday some members of the band will be taking part in a special benefit show at Manhattan's. The show is called Howardpalooza and the $20 admission fee goes to Beat 65's bass player Howard Curtis and his family who recently lost their home to fire. The list of performers will also include members from some of the top bands in the area (The Cavern Beat, Scramble, The Wild Ones, The Willies, The Fairlanes, Beatle Mark and The Meteors). Plus, rumor has it that several surprise celebrities will be joining in the fun as the night unfolds.
