Fortunately for me I have had the privilege of seeing some pretty amazing places and met some great people around the world. • When they tell you not to drink the water, you probably shouldn't eat Sashimi either.
• When the local people tell you there may be wild dogs about, they actually mean there are many (and they will gladly chase a jogger for sport).
• You need to go west to get to the far east.
• At 39,000 feet, hot coffee is still hot and gravity will spill it as easily as at sea level.
• There is a basement in the great pyramids of Giza in Egypt but there are no mummies and no oxygen (bring your own).
• Do not tell jokes to passport control or customs agents in any country- these people are specially trained to seek out and categorically eliminate tourists that exhibit nervous attempts at humor.
• Bring your own window screens while traveling in Europe. At the very least, do not leave your window open while out for the day. Flies and mosquitoes have been known to enter open windows and go through your luggage while they are waiting for you to return to your room for their dinner.
• When flushed, the water in toilets south of the equator actually drains in a counter-clockwise swirl.
• We do live in the best country in the world - the United States of America.
